		Jarvie Engineering is an Australian-owned private company, founded in Newcastle in 1952 by Bruce Jarvie. Initially we operated as a general repetition-engineering workshop. As the engineering needs of the region changed, we adapted operations to suit the dynamic industrial environment. Over the years our company has specialised in the repair and manufacture of hydraulic cylinders. Now, we are a leading Hunter manufacturer and repairer of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, specialising in cylinders for the underground and open-cut coal mining industry for clients Australia-wide and overseas. Our highly skilled and experienced workforce of over 115 people comprises of a large percentage of long-term staff. In addition to cylinder work, we provide comprehensive rebuild and overhaul services for a range of mining equipment and vehicles, as well as other industrial and agricultural equipment. We also offer Fluid Power systems and products. All stages of repair and manufacture are controlled in-house. This process consists of; washing and stripping items, all stages of machining, welding and fitting of parts, hard chrome plating or laser surfacing of wear parts, final assembly and testing of the finished product. We also operate a Plant Hire and Hydraulic Cylinder Service Exchange facility, to respond to customer emergency needs. Being customer driven, we invest in research and development that includes re-engineering of existing product design. This results in new process development, high quality products and service. We are accredited to the internationally recognised AS/NZS ISO 9001 quality standard, and strive to provide the highest possible level of customer service.
